I'll start off by saying that all of our kids had a great time and all were able to surf successfully. That said, we were a little taken aback by the age of the instructors. The website said 'professionals' which I would define as an experienced instructor, but we ended up with two teenagers, who were younger than our kids. Probably along the same lines, it was also disorganized. It got a late start and I think it ended early, but I also don't believe there was a hard stop specified, so that may be on me.

We wanted to try surfing and booked this through TripAdvisor. As for many outings in Hawaii, we met them at a white van on the roadside near a beach south of Kona. The actual name of the organization isn't Surf with the Pros but Kona Town Surf Adventures so it was a bit confusing to find them since that's what our confirmation from TA read. Our instructors were very patient and helpful. The fitted us in booties, rash guards and reef-safe sunscreen. We had a small group of 5 people; however, there were many other groups on the water that day so there was sometimes a traffic jam of surfers waiting to catch a wave. Each of us caught about 3 rides (the surf wasn't breaking much that day.) Nevertheless, at the end our arms were very tired even though we are in good shape!

Taj was kind, and informative. He was concerned with our safety and the we had a great experience. The activity is 2 hours. The safety briefing was 5 minutes. Instruction was much appreciated. We didn't last the 2 hours because we were exhausted. Taj gave us the option to rest and go back out. He paddles at twice our speed! We learned so much from Taj! He and other surfers have our respect.
