65 year old tried surfing for the first time. Great time, did get up and ride the waves. Alex was fantastic. He made the day worthwhile.

I was hesitant to try this as I am 52 and a bit overweight but, it was paid for already so I thought what the heck! I am so glad I did! This was the best experience! Our instructor gave us step by step instruction before heading to the water and we each had his attention during our turn. We all were able to get up and surf! What an awesome experience. If you think you can't-then do it!

We had signed up for lessons on Kauai as a cruise ship excursion, and we were very disappointed that it was cancelled due to lack of a "group". When we returned to Honolulu, my wife started calling to find a place that would take us that day. Luckily, we found Big Wave Dave Surf. Our "group" was still only my wife and me, Kevin was our instructor and he was fantastic. He showed us on dry land what to do and we practiced there a bit before hitting the beach. After a couple tries we were both up and loving it! Also, cost was better than the it would have been on Kauai. They also offer a CD of photos that were taken of you while surfing for an additional fee. They will be a great reminder of the awesome time we had... so glad we found this place! One tip I would share... if you have water shoes, bring them to Waikiki to surf in.
