If you're lucky enough to get Larry as your guide, not only will you get a comprehensive history of Tampa, you get a bonus: a better dolphin experience than the one run by the aquarium, which we had taken the day before. This is partly because you're in a smaller boat, much closer to the surface. But the big difference is that Larry has been plying his craft so long that the dolphins actually recognize him (dolphins are indeed capable of facial recognition) and he seems to know every one of them. He can talk forever about WWII history, especially regarding the role of Victory ships and Liberty ships.

The reception staff were courteous and helpfull. Although not used by us, the hotel's swimming pool looked great and was used by a number of guests. The room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable, BUT for some reason it was the noisest we have ever slept in, every time you turned over it sounded as if the springs were about to collapse --- this should definitely be looked into, also the shower tap was very hard to make work ie turn on. The hotel's dining room and breakfast menu were definitely above expectation. Would we stay there again --- yes. AND the hotel's airport shuttle is an extra bonus.
