Sam was a great tour guide!! His knowledge of Taos and its history is without compare, His many stories gave context to the places we were visiting so that we could go back again at our leisure and really understand what we were seeing.

Our guide Sam did an excellent job of covering the history of Taos. From the early days of settling to the explosion of artists which shapes the town today. His pace is slow and his voice a bit quiet. However, he weaves history and historic locations with the artists and businesses we visit today. Sam is well known in town as both a guide and an artist. It was especially enjoyable to return to some of the businesses and converse with the owner/artist and get their personal history. It makes what art and jewelry we bought have more meaning and endows them with stronger memories. As I said; the pace is slow and even. The length of the tour is a bit over an hour. I believe this is a great choice for anyone who is filling in their itinerary and for those who may be older and have less desire to walk long distances. Everything seen is in or nearby the plaza where the tour begins.
