My husband and I enjoy walking food tour, and we try to do one at the beginning of each trip if possible. Having a friendly tour guide tell you about history of the town, walk you around to sample good eats/drinks, and answer questions beats reading internet reviews. We love to eat! Being able to sample at multiple restaurants and walk off some calories in between stops allow us to indulge our guilty pleasure. We were in SLO with our infant son, and most places were baby/stroller friendly. We started out with some BBQ and beer for lunch; walked by the creek and got a cookie for dessert; had kale chips for snack; sampled flights of beer; ate slider, chips, and kale salad; ended with a happy hour cocktail. It was a delicious tour. Angee was a wonderful guide; we felt like we were hanging out with a friend from college. We had a blast!

This is a three and a half hour tour with lots of food, information, and a good amount of walking. The restaurants and shops ranged from the traditional bbq to more experimental cuisines. Angee, the guide, has a wide knowledge of food, local history, and the current social environment of the city. Our group had a wide variety of interests and we never once stumped her with a question. We ranged from high schoolers to grandmas and she provided something for everyone. One member of our group lamented that they should have taken the tour at the beginning of their visit instead of the end because Angee suggested so many interesting things to do or see. Good plan. Be sure to read their FAQs page, especially about parking. And if conversation ever does lag, ask her about trapping beaver in the Minnesota winter.
