• Your tickets will be held at the theater box office for collection on the day of the tour. You will be required to present this voucher, along with photo ID in exchange for your tickets.
• Comfortable walking shoes are recommended
• Please note due to the nature of the theatre being a working movie theatre and hosts special events please note, that the tour schedule can change.
• Note that the theatre is not able to host tours on days that special events occur
•Note most days tours start at 10am (unless a private event is taking place) and the final tour of the day typically starts at 4:30pm

What To Expect

TCL Chinese Theatres

Beginning in the historic Forecourt of the Stars, the guests are escorted inside the world-famous TCL Chinese Theatre. While in the lobby, the VIP Tour Guide takes guests back in time, through Hollywood’s glamorous history. Guests are shown various costumes, props, iconic artwork, and architecture associated with the history of the theatre. After walking through the displays in the lobby, patrons will be escorted to the main theatre, home to the largest IMAX in the world. While seated in the luxurious auditorium, guests are given the opportunity to relive the theatre’s star-studded past, by watching a short film, hosted by TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz. With over 80 years of history, the TCL Chinese Theatres remains one of Hollywood’s most beloved movie palaces.

In just 30 minutes, you will become acquainted with the life and legacy of Sid Grauman. On this tour, guests are shown various costumes, props, iconic artwork, and architecture associated with the history of the theatre. Visitors will also learn about the history of cinema as well as hear fun facts and stories about the famous venue and some of the most iconic cemented hand and footprints in the forecourt. Booking options are available. Alternatively, walk ups are welcome as tours run 7 days a week (excluding special events). Photography is permitted on VIP Tours, so your camera is essential. With a professional guide, this small group tour is ideal for anyone with an interest in Hollywood history. A visit to Los Angeles would be incomplete without visiting this unique landmark.

The Tour features stories and fun facts from the theatres beginnings to today, ranging from Hollywood premieres, to imprint ceremonies of your favorite celebrities in the Forecourt of the Stars. So walk through the golden doors of this Movie Palace of the Stars on an exclusive 30 minute Walking Tour. A visit to Hollywood is not complete without this stroll through Hollywood movie history. Tickets can be pre purchased but we chose to do it on the day.

The theater itself is iconic but....the crowds can be pushy and the parking terrible. I would recommend an Uber or Lyft to the location to walk around. Lots of street vendors can be aggressive too. Its worth the walk to see all of the stars on the walk and the dates signed. It can also be a bit dirty and there are no bathrooms available either. I would recommend keeping the stuff you are carrying to a minimum too...less to keep track of. As with any city area, beware of pickpockets and panhandlers.
