A great day out with Ray our driver/guide. Collected from the hotel, and motored up into the hills outside San Antonio. A number of small comfort stops and then a range of places associated with LBJ, who we in Australia went ā€œall the wayā€ with in the Vietnam War. Interesting visit to Fredericksburg followed - the Pacific War Museum is well worth it. Nothing was too much trouble for Ray, who also brought along a range of completions, jokes, and amusing side-bits of information to add through the day,

Our tour guide, Claudia, was absolutely wonderful! She went out of her way to ensure everyone on the bus was happy and comfortable. Unfortunately, we couldnā€™t see LBJā€™s ranch b/c of the government shut down, but were still able to do all of the other activities. I would NOT recommend bringing kids on this tour. They will be bored. Definitely more for people 40+ looking for a guided experience.

The guide, Ray, has done a great job. He has gone an extra mile (literally and figuratively) to take us to our points of interest that were a little off the main route while staying within the allotted time. He even drove us an extra mile to our Air BnB on the way back instead of just dropping us off in the downtown. Ray knows a lot of details about the LBJ ranch, and the towns and villages we visited along the way. He also plays music in his van and entertains tourists with funny quizzes and "blarneys". Two issues I had with the tour were related to management and not to Ray: 1) the phone number provided by the company to contact them to set up a visit was non-responsive for days on end and it was only on day 3 of our calling that someone picked up the phone. 2) The itinerary could be broken down into probably 2 distinct tours depending on visitors' interests, featuring either a) ranch+ shopping experience and local restaurants/bars, or b) ranch + more unstructured leisurely learning time including museums, etc. Otherwise, it's hard to fully appreciate everything during one day.
