The Anne Hutchinson Tour of Provincetown

Get an introduction to Provincetown from one of American history's most infamous. Decidedly NOT a Pilgrim, Anne Hutchinson knows her history well enough to have been banished from Massachusetts 400 years ago and will walk you through the center of town enlivening central sites poignant to Ptown's story. Don't expect a long trek (1 mi), but do expect the "licentiousness and sinful liberty" that got Anne banished long ago. This makes the tour for adults only. Receiving the seal of the Spirit that some have called comedy from Anne takes roughly an hour. Remember, Anne's detractors felt she had "rather been a husband than a wife” and hoped to be "extolled and admired and followed after." Nearly 400 years ago, they said I had "rather bine a Husband than a Wife... a preacher than a Hearer" and banished me from Massachusetts. Hm, well... I've been able to pull myself back and gain a toehold at the tip of the (now) state that United them all. Please join me in spreading my "corrupt opinions" once more on a history tour through Provincetown's center! As the Puritans' worst nightmare and icon for renovating gender, I think you will find there is no better mouth from which to hear Ptown's story. Leaning into foes' accusations of "Licentiousnesse and sinfull Liberty", some call my modern preaching comedy. Please understand therefore that the tour is for adults only. Do not waste time in discovering the grace of true Christ in your souls and join me as a member of the Elect!

Our tour guide was hysterical. At one point my cheeks hurt because I was smiling so hard. Easily one of the most informative and entertaining tours I have been on. Thank you!

Anne was a dream. Our vacation didn't really start until her tour. We went during the shoulder season (before summer really starts in Provincetown). She was incredibly respectful of our comfort level with regards to masks. The tour was a lovel stroll through some unexpected areas of town. She pointed out significant landmarks and also local history with a fantastic level of wit and charm. "How's my lipstick, it's a good gauge for how the tour is going" - It was flawless, and so was the tour. We eneded on the beach by the pier and got a chance to really bask in the ocean air afterwards. I would definitely recommend her tour to anyone visting - regardless of if it's your first or hundredth visit to Provincetown.
