Kathryn was our tour guide for a fantastic afternoon in Carytown. She was so friendly and took good care of our group of 14 people. We went to 6 restaurants. My husband and I agreed that our favorite stops were Can Can and 10 Italian Cafe. We plan to return to both of those places. We walked along Cary Street in the rain, but didn't mind at all, we were having such a good time. Kathryn paused in a few places to talk to us about the history of the neighborhood and notable buildings on the street. We look forward to taking another food tour in the near future since we enjoyed this one so much.

K., so glad to hear that everyone was having enough fun that some rain didn't even matter (it all comes down to your predisposition, I suppose)! I'm really happy to hear you'll return to at least two of the place on your tour - I hope you'll let 'em know how you learned about them! - Brian

We had a wonderful time on the Saturday Carrytown Food Tour with Kathryn as our guide. It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon popping in and out of 6 different eateries and learning a little of the history of the area. We visited 4 savory spots to enjoy Bruschetta & Panini samples at 10 Italian Cafe, mounds of mussels & pomme frites at CanCan Brasserie, a unique grilled cheese & pork creation and tomato soup at Home Sweet Home and a pork taco at Xtras. Then we were treated to hot tea and a lemon petit four at Tottering Teacups and finished at Carrytown Cupcakes. We would return to all of the savory spots on the tour for a full meal! So glad we didn’t have plans/reservations to eat dinner after the tour, we were pleasantly stuffed from all the “tasting”. We were meeting another couple from Fairfax and we came from Chesapeake to visit an exhibit at the VA Fine Arts Museum and then we walked 10 min. to the starting spot on Carry St. for the Food Tour. Worked out great to leave our car in the museum garage which was open until 7pm. So glad we didn’t try to find a parking space closer (others were late because they couldn’t find parking close by). Be sure to heed Brian’s advice to arrive early. We will definitely make plans to return to do the Downtown Arts District Tour!

K., what cool day - VMFA followed by a food tour! I'm so thrilled to hear you'd go back to all of the restaurants for a full meal, and I can't wait for the opportunity to show you around the Arts District on your next visit to Richmond! - Brian

This was such a great experience. Our guide Brian was so friendly and knowledgeable. He seems genuinely interested in the area, in the restaurants and in his customers. All the places we visited were outstanding and the food was delicious. It was so interesting to get an inside perspective from the restaurant managers and owners. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys food and having a good time. I will definitely be doing more tours in the future. Also a great idea for entertaining visitors to the area.

Not as happy as I am that you came on a tour with me! The four of you were a lot of fun, and that goes a long way toward making the experience a good one! I can't wait to see you all again! - Brian
