The DC Cherry Blossom Tour

Overview
Enjoy the fragrant, fluffy blooms of the famous Washington, DC cherry blossom with this short springtime tour, which includes a guided walk around the Tidal Basin.

Our cheerful cherry blossom tour starts at the U.S. Navy Memorial and is available between March 18 and April 30. You’ll start with a ride in one of our climate-controlled minibuses to take in some crucial sights of the city. Meanwhile, your entertaining guide will tell fruity tales of the Washington cherry blossom trees. First planted over 100 years ago, these trees served as a special gift to unite the Empire of Japan and the USA, and they have featured regularly in the city’s storied past ever since.

After passing by the Japanese Internment Memorial and President Taft Memorial, you’ll reach the peaceful scenery of Hains Point. Finally, you’ll reach the Japanese Lantern Shrine, where DC’s oldest and most prized blossom can be found.

I booked the 4-hour bus tour for the Cherry Blossoms and DC attractions; glad I did, because it was unseasonably cold Mar 29, 2022. The meeting spot on the confirmation was not the exact location, but over one street (on Constitution Ave), but we found it. The check in process could be a bit better, but not terrible. We got on the bus and there were audio problems with the microphone, which wasn't an issue for us, because we were in the front of the bus, but was for people in the back but our guide would stand a little farther back and talk louder or repeat after we exited the bus for those who couldn't hear her. We left about 15 mins late due to a late arrival, but we were out longer at the end. So all that out of the way, the driver Theo and our guide Jana (pronounced Yana), were great. Jana told us history about the attractions, as well as some personal stories of her time in DC, as she is originally from the Czech Republic. They were really pleasant, they provided water free of charge, and the 4-hours went very quickly. We did a lot of walking around the monuments, etc. so if you cannot walk well, you can either remain on the bus or you might be better with a different type of tour.
