American Museum of Natural History

New-York Historical Society Museum & Library

Founded over 200 years ago, this is New York’s oldest museum. Dedicated to the understanding of history and America’s role in it, it uses documents, artifacts and photographs to illuminate the city’s rise. Among the 1.6 million artworks in its permanent collection of paintings, drawings and sculpture, are world class pieces including all 435 of Audubon’s surviving watercolors for Birds of America. Snug Harbor Cultural Center

The site was originally developed in 1801 as “a haven for aged, decrepit and worn out sailors”. At its peak, it boasted a working farm, dairy, bakery, chapel, sanatorium, hospital, music hall and cemetery before closing and becoming derelict. Thankfully, the five stately Greek Revival fronted buildings and the chapel were listed on the National Register of Historic Places and saved from demolition. Eventually, the location became a regional arts center and in 2008, Snug Harbor Cultural Center merged with the Staten Island Botanical Gardens to create the attraction it is today. This cultural and horticultural hub has 28 buildings and extensive gardens covering 83 acres, where New Yorkers and tourists come to recharge their batteries and be inspired by history, architecture, environmental science and the visual and performing arts. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Marvel at 19th, 20th and 21st century artists including Manet, Picasso, Degas and Pollock. Known as The Guggenheim, it’s as famous for its tower and rotunda – the only New York building by the legendary American architect Frank Lloyd Wright – as it is for the magnificent collection of modern masterpieces inside. I went to the One World Observatory. This is the tallest building in the western hemisphere. The view you get at the top is amazing. I went early in the morning, right as it opened, and didn't have much of a line or crowd to deal with. The entire observatory level is inside, and the glass surrounding it makes taking pictures a bit difficult. If you press up against the glass, it eliminates most of the glare you would get. Highly recommended

This tour was overall fantastic. I was with a group of fellow New Yorkers and we decided to have the iconic NYC experience and see some of the major spots. A few of us in the group had never been to some of these locations. We decided on the sightseeing pass with bus tour. We started off heading uptown to the Guggenheim, where the architecture alone is worth the visit. Then we headed down to Times Square for lunch and used our voucher credit. Then it was off to the Empire State Building for incredible views! This is a must see! We then took the bus downtown to the World Trade Center for a drink at the observation bar, and then watched the sunset with more amazing views! Overall is was a super fun day, with many instagram-worthy photo ops. The bus was a great way to see the city and take photos without being underground or in a cab. I can't wait to take more friends and go again, there's so much more to see still.

A group of us gathered in the morning in front of the visitor center and proceeded to get in line to get our bus tickets. Actually, getting our tickets was difficult and seemed a little disorganized. We were using a QR code and none of the staff seemed to have the proper equipment to scan our codes to get our tickets. Even though we were in line, there were several groups that were accommodated before us because of this QR code. Once we got our tickets, we finally got on a bus and got our day of touring started. I should have guessed that realistically we would not have been able to see all the things we wanted just knowing how New York transportation operates. So for any groups considering this pass, definitely have a plan beforehand. My tour day was a day of firsts for me. Our group went to the Guggenheim, The Empire State Building and One World Observatory. I had never been to any of these attractions and venues so, overall it was a good day for me. I enjoyed every place we went to. Everyone recognized our Sightseeing Pass at each venue so scanning our QR codes was efficient and quick. The $15-dollar credit at the selected restaurants was a good value. Our group of 5 only spent a total $14 and change at Planet Hollywood after our credit. I feel the overall value of this package was good. It is what I would have spent on individual tickets to each of these places, I believe and it was definitely a fun day out with friends.
