I was in Miami with my family, we took the Art Deco Tour. The ipod broke, and the one my wife was carrying had information that was outdated and in the wrong order. The company would not refund our money, and claimed they were not responsible for electronic problems.. Nice way to spend a day on vacation. This is not a good idea, unless you want to walk around with headphones on, and get bad information about things on the tour. The people were not friendly, and bordered on being confrontational. I will not do this again!

Took this tour in Jan 2007. It's a 90 minute tour of Art Deco & Mediterrean Revival buildings in the South Beach area, put on by the Miami Design Preservation League. Learned a lot about the history of Miami Beach and the architecture there. We even went into some private buildings that tourists wouldn't normally get to see. Very interesting, and the fee helps to support the non-profit League. My only issue was that the group size was too large, so sometimes it was hard to hear the commentary. But given that these tours are run by volunteers, I really can't complain too much.

My sisters and I visited South Beach in June, 2006. We decided to do the walking tour of the art deco district. What a treat! The guide was knowledgeable and there were so many beautiful buildings in such a small area. We went inside several of the buildings and got to see interesting pictures, features and restorations. You learn a ton about this period, plus fun facts about 'messages in the terrazzo' pointing the way to secret gambling and drinking rooms used during prohibition. Be sure to pick up the coffee table book in the gift shop.
