There are a few options for ziplining in Monteverde, so we read the reviews here and decided to go with The Original Canopy Tour. We made the right choice!!! It was the highlight of our Costa Rica trip!!! We have two kids (girls) 12 & 8 and they both enjoyed every minute of it. The company offers a free pickup, but since we had a car and wanted to do the bridge walking after ziplining at another place, we drove there on our own. They are very flexible and since we came earlier, we just went right away. The staff is really professional and knowledgeable, and did everything very safely. My recommendation is that you wear longer shorts (to your knees) or light pants and T-shirt with light long sleeve shirt on top. It was a bit breezy, so we all wore our long sleeve shirts. The harness sits at mid thigh, so that's the reason for longer shorts (to prevent the rubbing) if you plan on wearing a shorts. The mosquitoes were not a problem in December. We had a belt where we brought a bottled water which we did use. Bring smaller cameras (or GoPro) We had two, so we gave one to the guide, who took pictures of us and a movie, and I used the other one. Someone mentioned in the comments below that they took pictures and they had an option to buy it, so I think they did not have their camera with them. The other family that was with us in the group also had a camera and each of the guides took one and concentrated on that family with pictures. While we were climbing the mountain to Tarzan swing, the guide stopped a few times and while we were catching the breath, he was talking about the flora and fauna in that area. Tarzan swing was awesome! You really fly high and far, swing a few times before they catch you by your feet. After the Tarzan swing, we started on a few shorter ziplines to get used to it, and then it was pure enjoyment. The views are phenomenal! In the middle of the tour, there is an option of rappelling down and climbing up the hollow tree. I recommend you do that, it's quite a fun experience, but requires you to be mildly fit, since you do have to climb up the ladder all the way up back to the platform. The second to last zipline is the best of all! It's ~0.5 mile long and high above the canopy with the view of the Pacific. Fantastic thrill! Our youngest had to ride with a guide on that one, since she is not heavy enough to go on that one by herself. All in all, we all had an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend this tour!!!

They offer a 14 segment zipline, a tarzan swing, and a rope that you can slide down on from a tree. The tarzan swing, when hooked up, was digging into my rib cage, so I didn't do it. The rope down required you to climb back up, so I didn't do that either. But the ziplines were super fun, with one being half a mile long and super high up. You do have to hike uphill to get the the start of the ziplines and tarzan swing, so if you get out of breath easily, don't pick this zipline company. There were also ten people in our group and the platforms were too small and rickety to have us all on them at the same time. The guides kept having to attach us to different, miscellaneous ropes to rearrange our ororder and get by, etc. That was annoying, as well as waiting for everyone to go. They do have better crowd control than the other company in monteverde (starts with an S, but forget the name).

I booked this tour with my 16 year old daughter. She had always wanted to go on a zip line so our thrip to Monteverde was the time to do it. As a former firefighter that has had some training in rappelling and very experienced with safety harnesses in construction I was well aware of how things should be done. The staff here did not disappoint. From the very beginning and at every stage they made everyone comfortable and never overlooked safety. I am OK with heights but scared of falling. I will not stand too close to the edge of a cuff no matter what the view is like but put a harness on me and I'm the first †o go over. I had no concerns on this tour for myself or my daughter. Now onto the fun stuff. I had never zip lined before and was excited to do this. The views from the platforms and the lines was amazing. The staff asked for cameras at the beginning so they could take pictures and videos. We got some great pictures of us on the lines and amazing video they took as they transferred between platforms. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone.
