We had three terrific (enthusiastic, friendly, skilled) guides who managed to get us (2 adults and 2 children) and the rest of the group safety through the zip lines, while at the same time using our i-phone to take numerous great photos and movies of each of us -- no extra charge! The tour included two optional "activities" -- Tarzan swing and repelling-off-tree/climbing back up through hollow tree. We all did both, which added to the overall experience. The zip lines were fun -- started easy and worked up to longest two at end. Our children road all but last two solo, but also enjoyed going with the fun guides (one of whom took a movie of our son during their ride together!). Husband and son also did Sky Trek zip lines in Arenal...enjoyed these for their "thrill level" (focus there is really speed and length), but found the Original Canopy Tour of Monteverde to be better overall, due to great guides, being in the forest (hiking from area to area) and zip-lining through the forest, and the fun extra activites.

My family recently visited Monteverde and my daughter and I wanted to try ziplining. We had never been, so we weren't sure what to expect. We walked-in without an appointment and were immediately paired with a group of about 10 other people. Our guides gave us all of the necessary equipment and were very thorough in explaining what to do. My 8-year-old-daughter was a little hesitant to zipline by herself so she rode most cables with a guide. There were other kids in our group too, including a 7 year old and two 13 year olds. Our guides were playful, professional, and safe throughout our tour. It was a fun experience and the views of the Monteverde valley were spectacular. I wish they offered photography or videography services so that we could have a memento of our experience. However, I would totally zipline again with The Original Canopy Tour.

Dad plus 2 teens thoroughly enjoyed the original canopy zip line tour. Also did Tarzan swing. Choose the original because it's actually in forest. Some of the newer ones seem more about extreme adventure than enjoying the canopy. Guides were great and we felt totally safe. Good mix of in the forest and zipping through open vistas. Longest zip is 800 meters across wide open space exhilarating!!
