We travel quite a bit; been on many tours so we were looking for something different. And we found out! Tom, our tour guide was extraordinary!
We had an evening tour. Tom started by gathering us all in an alley circled around a small altar where he performed a sacred circle ritual which involved chants, candles, incense and a sword! Oddly enough, it didn't seem weird at all! A few in our group did not take part but my husband and I were all in! At the end of the ceremony, before the walk, we ended up with a couple of stones that we hung on to for the rest of our 24 day trip. Now, we each have a stone to keep in our pockets.
By the way, you need to know that ANYONE can go on this walk as it is mostly historical information. The "altar" is not offensive to Christians or anyone else so go ahead and do this. It is fun!
After my husband commented that it would have been interesting to sit and chat with Tom because he was so interesting! We loved it so much that we sent him a tip after we got home! After the tour, I unfortunately had to run to the hotel across the street to use the restroom and when we came out, Tom and the group had already left. But, we didn't forget how good he was so we wanted to reward him!
Thank you Tom for such a fascinating, different kind of fun and learning!
Tom is very knowlegable, animated, and interesting. He is very passionate and knows his Salem history quite well.
