We were in DC for a very short amount of time, but my family wanted to see as much as we could while we were there. I found this tour through Viator and I’m so glad I did. Our tour guide, Maureen, was just fabulous and with her we were able to see and (most importantly) understand what we were seeing in an efficient manner. This tour allows you to skip the often VERY long line for entrance to the museum and your tour guide takes you through the major exhibits in two hours. Then when you’re done with the tour, you can stay in the museum for as long as you like (and as long as the museum is still open) to see any exhibits you didn’t see with your guide or examine any exhibits you’ve already seen for longer. A personal highlight for me was getting a real deep dive into the Wright Brothers’ story and my husband loved seeing the Apollo archives. Maureen’s passion for the museum shined through everything she shared and made the time fly by. We were worried about our kids’ ability to stay focused on the tour for two hours, but Maureen included them in every conversation and my eleven-year-old said afterwards that the tour felt way shorter than two hours! The tour is a bit on the pricey side, but it’s worth it if you only have a short window of time or if you prefer having someone walk you through what you’re seeing to place the archive in context.
