The High Line

On this virtual talk and tour, we’ll explore this wonderful linear park elevated 30 feet in the sky attracting over 8 million visitors each year. From the 1800’s, learn the history of how goods arrived in Manhattan, providing a life-line to residents. We’ll explore the history of the neighborhoods, learn why the rail line was elevated, then abandoned, and who rescued it. You’ll see the transformation from the Meatpacking District, through the Chelsea neighborhood to the creation of the largest private construction project in the history of the United States called Hudson Yards. As we take our virtual tour block by block, you’ll know the secrets of the High Line, see the incredible new architecture and be able identify the architects who created an amazing three-dimensional gallery of artwork. I found this video tour fascinating from beginning to end. Starting with the history of the area and moving right along, it greatly enhanced my appreciation of the High Line . I loved the inclusion of engineering, architecture, the history of buildings and the railroad. There were many times when I would have liked to have stopped the tour and asked questions. Een if I weren't an enthusiastic visitor to New York I would enjoy watching this video tour. kitt Garret's hard work and professionalism has really paid off. Five stars!*****
