Construction began on Boldt Castle in 1900 at the bidding of millionaire hotel magnate George C. Boldt as a tribute to his beloved wife Louise. Boldt Castle was designed as their summer dream home. A castle rivaling those of Europe, built on the St. Lawrence River, in the heart of the 1000 Islands. However it was not to be, Mrs. Boldt passed away suddenly just months before the completion of the castle. Mr. Boldt was inconsolable and immediately stopped all construction on Heart Island, leaving the property vacant for over seventy years… The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA), who owns and operates Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House, invite you to explore our website. Very fun experience. My biggest concern was the boat was jam packed and people were not wearing a mask. The boat should have been at 50% capacity and it was full. I also didn't see any sanitizing being done of high touched areas.

Enjoyed the cruise through the islands and the stopover at Rock Island Lighthouse. Glass bottom boat was fun too looking down at the shipwrecks . Was fun seeing the lake freighter too . Tour guide was very informative also . Learned a lot from my trip. Took one of their cruises last year
