Akaka Falls State Park

Take a guided walk through Akaka Falls State Park. Not only will your naturalist tell you all about the rich botanical life found throughout the park but you’ll have the opportunity to view 2 spectacular waterfalls. Akaka falls, which cascades 442-feet down a vertical cliff face carpeted in vibrant green, is truly an incredible site to behold.

Hamakua Coast

Enjoy the lush rainforest, rugged coastline and beautiful green valley's that make the Hamakua Coast famous worldwide.

Hilo

Following your dip, you’ll drive through historic downtown Hilo as you guide tells you all about the unique history and culture of the area before returning home.

Waipio Valley Lookout

If you’d like to visit Waipio Valley, Waimea, and see more of the Hamakua coastline we offer additional tour routes to accommodate these requests. Arrive at Waipio Valley in the late afternoon. Enjoy the incredible views as your guide explains the rich history of the area.

Ultra comfortable ride to the eastern side of the island. Shawn was extremely knowledgeable and informative on the geography and history or the island. This tour took us to places we might not have found on our own. We visited waterfalls and gardens as Shawn provided great commentary on local legends and traditions. We even stopped at a local food stand for awesome Ahi wraps. Highly highly recommend Big Island Backroad Adventures!
