Vermilionville sits on a beautiful tree-covered 23-acre site on the banks of the Bayou Vermilion with 19 attractions, including seven restored original homes with costumed artisans that provide demonstrations on crafts performed by Native Americans and early settlers. Vermilionville provides its guests with a place for history, music, food, cultural exchange, historic architecture and much more. This is a self-guided tour, where you can explore all of Vermilionville at your own pace.

Vermilionville
Walking through our 23-acre living history museum and folklife park will transport you back in time, landing in Acadiana in the years between 1760 and 1890. Come and meet our costumed artisans who are demonstrating trades and crafts exactly was they would have been performed in this era. You'll hear the stories of the Native Americans of the region, the Acadians, and the Creoles and people of African descent, learn about the region's history, and discover how their cultures developed into Acadiana's unique contemporary folklife.

Small open-air museum with old houses. We had read that people dressed in period clothing tell stories, but there was no one there. Only an older gentleman sat in the school who talked very interestingly about music, sang and played the accordion. Live Cajun music was supposed to take place here today, but it was cancelled. A nice facility, but not a must-do
