Our family friends had recommended this place sometime ago but we had not given it a try till today when my son wanted to have a family fun time outdoor. We made the decision 3 hours prior and were able to catch the last session at 1:30 PM. We bought the tickets online from TreeUmph! website and it is recommended way to reserve the spots. When we about to place the order, there were only 6 openings left and we took 3 of last 4 available, which tells how popular this place is. The website provided very detail information, images gallery and safety guidelines so it is a good place to start your planning.
Even though today's trip to TreeUmph! was kind of whimsical, it turned out to be a great adventure, way beyond our imagination and expectation. It was extremely fun and refreshing but at the same time it was very physically demanding especially if you were to complete the full 5-courses (Courses 4 and 5 are only for adults or age 12 and up). My wife is about 50 and I am 54, our younger son 13 and he was the only one who was able to complete the full 5-courses; but when he came down, he was totally exhausted though mentally excited. My wife finished 3 courses and did the last zip line which probably was most relaxing and fun among all activities. I could have completed the 5 courses along with my 13-year son if not because I was low on my energy fuel tank and my hands hurt quite bit because my gloves were not protective enough. So here were a few MUST I would like to share to help you be more prepared: 1) Must wear gloves to protect your hands. They sell a pair for $3 plus tax but you can also bring your own; the glove sold there feel cheap but have cutout to expose your fingers so you can take cell phone pictures with ease. 2) MUST carry some energy bars in your pocket to refill you or you must a high energy meal before you go. 3) And don't save money on water ticket - buy their water ticket as that allows you to drink ice cold water along the way - between courses there are coolers on the ground you can pick up ice-cold bottled water to quench your thirsty. 4) If you want really nice photos, have someone on the ground take some for you using some real camera ((even better with telephoto lens). You can also take cell phone photos on each course and there even some platforms marked with selfie and Facebook sharing signs.
Safety is absolutely their top concern so along the way, there are plenty of helpers to watch you and guide you if you seem to be in trouble. Before we started the actual course, there were 10 minutes practice on how to use the protective equipment, followed by a short video for more detail instruction and demos, then a short pre-course to help you get up to speed and ready for the real course. Overall the service and the friendly staff were super nice and you feel are in i good hands all the way.
Besides its great outdoor family activity, it is also a good sport to enhance one's endurance and sense of achievement by overcoming fear, weakness and laziness. Oh, one more thing, bring some deep wood bug propellant - they also sell it for $1.25 per small pack at the registration if you forget,
