My husband and I decided to finally go to TreeUmph! and cannot wait to go back. We scheduled our appointment for 10 AM on a Saturday during peak season and were promptly fitted with our harnesses. After one's harness is placed, they lead you to the area where you practice using the harness hooks and mechanisms. This was beyond helpful as I had no prior climbing experience. The hooks are very easy to use and we grasped the concept immediately. After practicing, one will watch a very informative video on safety and FAQs. After the video, we practiced climbing and using the hooks. The TreeUmph! personnel were very friendly and will reserve the right to determine whether or not one is prepared for the course before actually entering the course.
After passing the practice climb, one is ready to begin course one. Each course is equipped with its own set of challenges and will demand care. With the harness used properly, falling will not be a concern. Worst case yell "guide, guide, guide" and they will come to the rescue. Be prepared to wait on the platforms or actual courses as more thrill seekers tend to arrive as the day progresses.
We loved TreeUmph!, but decided to end our adventure after course three as the lines grew longer. We agreed to come back when it is less crowded as waiting on the platform or on the course was taxing due to the constant rise and fall of adrenaline.
Comfortable clothing (workout clothing) and tennis shoes are the best options. We were both glad we wore our workout gloves as the ropes and bars tend to burn a bit. I tend to have a heavy hand and have an aggressive grip. We will be back to finish the course, but will come very early during the off-season or on a Friday.
