Overview

This course gives you a real scuba diving experience during which you will go out on the dive boat and do 2 dives on our beautiful coral reefs with one of our instructors. You will see uncountable varieties of colorful fish and possibly nurse sharks, reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles, goliath groupers and barracudas. We have no dangerous animals on our reefs, so you can relax and enjoy!

The price of this full day adventure includes everything you need for the experience (academics, rental gear, pool training, instructor for the whole day), and at the end of the day your souvenir certificate. All you need is a swimsuit and a towel.

Please note that you must be able to swim in order to learn how to scuba dive. You must also be in excellent health.

After arriving in the Keys to dive for my PADI Wreck Diver Specialty, I was stood up by the scuba shop I had made reservations with 3 months in advance. Another shop connected me with Yovann, and in 3 hours she got me an instructor for my 4 required wreck dives and secured me on a dive boat for the 2 trips we’d need to complete the certification. Yovann went “above and beyond “ in taking a disaster and turning it around to one of the best dive trips I’ve ever had. I am a PADI certified Rescue diver with 48 dives in the last 3 years. I am 2 dives away from attaining my PADI Master Diver certification, the highest ranking a recreational diver can achieve. I have had numerous PADI instructors, and I can attest that Brent is in the top 3 I’ve ever had. He was thorough, professional, and took my instruction very seriously. We did an incredible 18 minute penetration dive on the Speigel Grove and I was never concerned with my safety. If you’re going to the Keys to dive, and/or want to get certification, Scuba Fun, Yovann and Brent will not let you down!

We have tried this location 4 times in the 2 trips that we have taken in the past month to the keys due to it being the only tank rental place near where we stay. During their business hours the doors have always been locked with the lights off and a sign saying they would be back later. One time they left a number and after calling someone showed up within 5 minutes to rent us our gear. The only problem with the gear was once we got out to the dive spot and got all our gear set up one of the tanks was sitting just above 2000psi which cut the dive down significantly. Once again when trying to return the gear no one was there accept a note telling us to leave the gear with the hotel across the street that had no idea why we were trying to give them scuba gear. The staff seamed extremely nice when they were actually there and like I said we only rented gear from them so I have no idea if the charters are great or not.

Hi Shane, We apologize for the inconvenience. We let you return our rental gear at the hotel across the street so that we could accommodate your wish to keep the gear overnight, which nobody else would have let you do. We are sorry the employee there was not informed by her boss - not her fault or ours. I personally gauged your tanks and they were both full. Maybe you had one open a tiny bit on your way to the dive site? This sometimes happens when you pressure up your gear before you leave the dock and don't turn it off or don't turn it off all the way. We are generally open from 8 to 5, seven days a week, 364 days a year. On very slow days, we take the freedom to run some errands with a note that we can be back within 5 minutes if called, such as we were when you called. During season we are here 9 to 11 hours every day. We sincerely hope that you will come back and try us again :-)

On the recommendation of the Coral Restoration Foundation which we support, my daughter and I reached out to Scuba Fun to help us with our confined and open water diver certifications. They are a small local shop, much preferred in my view to the larger dive shops in Key Largo that cycle through large numbers of divers at a time. She and I had an instructor all to ourselves for the entire time (a rarity with dive certifications), and friendly personal service throughout our visit. We spent 3 days in the water and got through all of our certifications, felt very well taken care of and had a great time. I highly recommend these guys and will likely use them again on future trips to Key Largo.
