Two Hour Lighthouse Bicycle Tour from South Portland-Mellow

Overview

Our 2-Hour tour leaves at 9 am or 3 pm and follows the scenic South Portland Greenbelt Pathway to two local lighthouses. The first stop on the tour will be Portland Breakwater Light, also known as "Bug Light" and then the tour will continue to Spring Point Ledge Light, located near historic Fort Preble, before returning to the bike shop.

What To Expect

Bug Light Park

Bicycle along a bike trail and on a few quiet roads along the coast of South Portland to a small lighthouse called Bug Light. t was built in 1875 to help ships navigate into Portland Harbor and is still in use today.

Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Continue bicycling to Spring Point Light. This lighthouse was built in 1897 and is situated at the end of a long granite breakwater that you are permitted to walk on to visit the lighthouse. Also, located next to a historic fort built in 1812 and used in every war until world war two.

Great Tour guide! Very informative! Nice ride through a few neighborhoods and to a couple of lighthouses we had not visited before. Our guide shared lots of interesting facts that we did not know about Portland even though we grew up in the area.

Ross gave an amazing bike tour for my husband and myself. Lots of interesting facts and views. The bikes were easy to operate and comfortable. We'd definitely recommend doing this trip.

This bike tour was a highlight of our trip to Portland. We had the honor of being in a tour led by the owner of Lighthouse Bikes. What a treat! The scenery was beautiful. We learned so much. Overall, it was very enjoyable!
