This was a great tour and Jason was able to make it that much more special for our family of eight. As an African-American, I was a little hesitant about a white guy telling the African American experience, but he did it with such grace, style and sensitivity. Jason was truly passionate and proud of this history and made it evident that this is American history. He kept everyone engaged in spite of the cold weather. Jason was very accommodating for my 81 year-old mom and even gave her his jacket. The nuggets of history that he shared with us was great conversation later that evening at the family dinner table. Marquette Milton showing up as a Union soldier was a surprise treat! He was filled with so much information and it was a pleasure watching Jason and Marquette go back and forth about the knowledge and things that they've learned about the history in this area. The food was delicious & very filling & accommodated me as a vegetarian. Jason also later followed up with ideas of places to have dinner during our vacation. I look forward to doing the Georgetown food tour with Jason on my next DC vacation.

Elgin, we appreciate your honesty about your initial hesitancy to see someone who doesn't look like you telling the story of Black Broadway. However, it is exactly as you said: Black history IS American history, and needs to be taught to everyone regardless of color. DC history hits particularly close to home for Jason as a native Washingtonian, and we know he takes care of guests as thoughtfully as he would his own mother. As far as Marquette goes, he is one of the hidden gems of the African American Civil War Museum and you are definitely blessed to have been graced with his knowledge and graciousness as well. Thank you for this fantastic review, and we hope to be able to share the hidden history and flavors of Georgetown with you soon!

This was a wonderful tour. Thank you to our tour guide Jason, who is absolutely amazing. Jason was so friendly and welcoming. He had such excellent knowledge of the U Street area and DC as a whole being a DC native. I also really liked that Jason‘s approach to the information he was giving us was that it was a conversation rather than a lecture. Sometimes on Food Tours you do feel like you’re getting a lecture which is not always fun. But not so in this case. My favorite food was the empanadas but all the food is great. The U St., Corredor is in particular an area that really is so amazing in DC. I highly recommend it.

Jason definitely knows how to keep things fresh and fun, and those pastries at Colada Shop definitely add a little Cuban flair to your day. Thank you for such an awesomely detailed review!
