Soneka was a great guide. We appreciated the history along with the really good food. There was a lot of neighborhood history that you don’t get on other tours. We loved the Ethiopian food but some of the other tourists didn’t eat much (and it was not very spicy). There was a lot of food and we were pleasantly stuffed by the end. A note for other attendees, there is more walking than on some other food tours. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for your review! We understand that Ethiopian food can be a little overwhelming to first timers, but we would be remiss if we didn't include the cuisine of an important community here in DC. Great pro tip on the walking, as we do try to give our guests a chance to work up an appetite in between each of our tastings. Thanks again for your recommendation!

Tour leader was full of energy and local area knowledge. Food was disappointing given the price point (hot dog w/Chili, vegetarian Ethiopian, cuban pastry and ice cream (great). I was expecting more local restaurant visits, and less U Street history.

Thank you for your review, and we're glad your tour guide left a positive impact! The cost of our tours does incorporate a donation to a local non-profit as well as full price for each of our tastings and 20% gratuity for the hard-working staff of the locally owned restaurants we partner with. The cuisine may not have met your expectations, but you still were able to help us give back to the DC community, and we thank you for your support!

Jim was a great tour guide. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Loved the history and the food selections, especially the Cuban pastry. Jim provided water but if you go on a hot day like we did, bring your water bottle with ice. There is quite a bit of walking but nothing strenuous.

Thanks for shouting out Jim with the hydration, Britt! We're sorry the weather detracted from your experience, but hopefully that pastelito at Colada Shop served as a tasty reward after working up an appetite in between tastings. We appreciate the advice you left for your fellow travelers!
