Our U Street Food Tour was a fantastic experience! We met Scott right outside the first stop and were immediately impressed by his energy & excitement to be our guide. He did an amazing job and we highly recommend asking for Scott…seriously, ask for Scott!! Fortunately for us, we were the only ones on this particular Wednesday, so it felt like our own private tour! Scott had this perfect mix of genuine enthusiasm, a love for history, an appreciation for detail that all of us nerds love and a true passion for food. The icing on the cake was that his balanced perspective (no doubt informed by his extensive world travels) layered beautifully with his deep local knowledge. My girlfriend and I still remark on how much we learned that day. The history was so rich and we felt like we were transported back in time (to a few different time periods) with each amazing narrative. Oh wait, have I not mentioned the food?! The food was slammin! So many different, high quality offerings from several cultures…and the fascinating back stories to go with it. I won’t spoil the surprises of what you’ll learn or where you’ll eat, but just know you’re gonna love it! Highly recommend. Oh and doesn’t it make it even better to know that part of the proceeds help real people facing real issues right there in DC?! Love it!

Hi Geuka! Wow! If we could ask for a perfect review, this might be it! As you experienced, we tell the history of the neighborhood through food and I'm so, so, so glad that you appreciated it as much as you did. We will certainly pass your kind words along to Scott. :) Cheers, Mary

So glad we booked the U Street tour as part of my sister's bachelorette weekend. The party had a mix of girls who'd been living in DC for a few years and those of us from out of town and we all loved it! The co-owner Mary was very communicative when I enquired about vegan accommodations before booking. We got lucky and it ended up being just the six of us and our guide, Tiffany. She was knowledgeable about the history, culture, and the food itself, and helpfully pointed out some cool places to check out for our Saturday night out. We all left "pleasantly full" and learned a lot (the first step to reverse the trend of cities forgetting to honor the history and culture of a neighborhood). Thanks again, Tiffany! Logistics: The tour starts just off a metro stop and there wasn't too much walking, so sandals were fine. We visited 5 restaurants and made a few other stops at murals and other historically important businesses along the way. There is lots to do after in the area but be prepared to be a little sleepy after eating so much and being out in the summer humidity (we ended up just going home to decompress for the afternoon!).
