Food tours are about the history of the establishment and how they survived through tough times and still to this day, please the masses. Keep that in mind because the food might not be what I would typically eat in a restaurant but trying fair at a place with so much history makes the food that much more enjoyable. This is what this tour gives you. Our guide was thoughtful, articulate, and knew her history and she was enthusiastic. I took 4 highly rated tours from TripAdvisor and this was my favorite by far.

Hi NickySixx~ We're so glad to be named as your favorite among the food tours you have taken. :) You nailed our mission - we tell the history of the neighborhoods we explore through food and while we want everyone to enjoy the tastings, it's exciting when we are able to introduce our guests to things that they perhaps would not have chosen themselves. Cheers, Mary

All great. We visited four family owned restaurants and met the owners. We learned the history of the establishement, their owners and the ethnic food. As we walked from one restaurant to the other, we were told about the various buildings we were passing and the history of the area. Our guide was full of information, very enthusiastic and very likeable. It was a great way to learn about a part of DC that wasn't part of the federal government. It was the highlight of our visit to DC.

My favorite part of this tour was getting to try foods/places I normally would not have gone to by myself. We went to 4 places; 1 of which (the Ethiopian restaurant) I would have never tried otherwise. I also liked learning about the neighborhood and how it has progressed over the years; our tour guide, Mary, was very personable and easy to chat with. There were only 3 of us on my specific tour. My only qualm was that we didn't get much food for the cost and our tour ended about 30 minutes early - but overall, I would def. recommend!

Hi Jessica! Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! Sometimes when we have such a small group, the tour doesn't run as long as there is less to coordinate with each restaurant stop. Our goal is for you to leave the tour pleasantly full - I hope that was the case. The cost of the tour not only takes into account the multiple tastings, but also your guide, our curated tour content, and tour coordination. :)
