The U Street tour with Aleena was fantastic. Great family activity with our teenagers. We're locals but had never explored this neighborhood and learned so much about its rich history and eclectic culture. It's a feast for all the senses. Colorful architecture, blooming gardens, vibrant murals, gogo music, and of course a sampling of tasty bites from classic to adventurous to comfort food. Do this tour if you want to experience a thriving corner of the real DC that both celebrates its past and embraces its evolving modern identity, and taste the food that represent its energy and diversity. We also loved being part of Carpe DC's philanthropic mission supporting the charitable nonprofit Bread for the City.

Hi jaime911! I appreciate your "double" review - both here and on Google. :) You totally "get us"! We tell the history of the neighborhood through our food tastings...as well as all of the cool murals, buildings, and memorials we pass by on between our restaurant stops. So glad you appreciate our mission! See you in Georgetown? Cheers, Mary

Don't miss this foodie tour! Part history, all delicious, we had the best time learning about DC's rich history with food, and all the people that came here to make it that way. So often you travel to Washington DC and learn about our nation's history, but rarely do you get the chance to learn about DC itself. You will on this tour! Come hungry!

I have done a few foodie tour before, and although this one was OK I feel it was more about the (very interesting) history of the area than about the food. One stop we couldn't sit down together as a group, so the whole thing felt a bit awkward. The tour was well organized but I think I should probably have chose the Georgetown tour instead.

Hi raggarbil~ Yes, our food tours are designed to tell the history of the neighborhoods we feature through the food we share with guests. I'm sorry to hear that your group was not able to sit at one of the stops - that is very unusual, but of course, we do work with several popular...and/or! small local venues. We keep out tour groups small for that very reason but certainly there are some days that we have to be a bit flexible since each of the stops is also open to the public. Cheers, Mary
