Overview

Our Exclusive VIP whale watching tours are 2 hours long with a maximum of 12 guests. Our small groups make every seat a front row seat as you enjoy whale watching and educational talks from our marine naturalist onboard. Our inflatable rafting vessels are safe, travel quickly to find whales and a fun ride for the whole family.

See Humpback Whales that have traveled 3000 miles from Alaska to give birth and mate in a the protected Maui Nui sanctuary off Lahaina where the waters are known for being warm and calm. On our whale watches we could travel anywhere from 2 to 10 miles from Lahaina harbor, often encountering dolphins in addition to humpback whales. Guarantee whale sightings Dec-April, or go again for FREE!

We are locally owned and operated since 1982 and every ticket supports our participation in marine research projects and our role as certified first responders to whale entanglements.

Captain Amy and Hana are absolutely the best on the planet! During our whale watch we spotted every kind of interesting behavior and learned so many whale facts from their deep experience and knowledge. We have whale watched extensively on the West Coast and Hawaii; and very few captains have Amy's sense and sensibility with the whales - this makes any of her trips extremely special experiences of a lifetime!

Captain Amy and Emma were amazing. We saw so many whales. Then one whale came over and spent an hour with us. It was amazing Such life long memories and the enthusiasm of Amy and Emma made it all the better. Once in a lifetime experience.

We went on this tour in 2017 and, when I asked for a life jacket, I was told they were too hard to get to. NOW I just take my own life jacket, and today's captain said the ones on the boat are unsafe for wearing while boat is moving because of their configuration (?). That said, we had a fabulous day of whale watching. Captain Tiffany and crew were informative and eager for all of us to enjoy the experience. In the first hour we lucked upon a mother, calf and two male escorts. The calf must have breached 20 times. It also spent a lot of time tail slapping. Then the mother and the males breached several times. We stayed in that spot enjoying their frolicking for almost an hour. The next hour was spent seeing whales spout and then disappearing before we could get to them, but on the way back we again encountered another 'family' frolicking. While I realize the tour company cannot predict where whales will be, the small boat allowed us to get to whale activity quickly, turn off the engine and just watch from very close to the water. This tour is for actually watching and listening to whales (by hydrophone dropped into water). Thankfully there is no booze and no music. There are plenty of other companies which provide that kind of tour if desired.

So stoked you had a great whale watching experience with us! As far as the lifejackets go, we do currently provide standard lifejackets by request prior to boarding, although the safety lifejackets onboard are more for emergencies and are the large puffy orange ones stored above the boat. In any case your safety and comfort is our priority, please always communicate that with your reservationist and captain so we can meet those needs! Number of guest for the boat is actually certified for more than we put onboard. The coastguard inspects and regulates the boats every year. Our rafts do have pontoon style seating which is approved by the coastguard. If you have any other questions about this feel free to contact us! Mahalo!
