We've always had a passion for donuts, but only recently did we realize just how many others do too. And when looking around, we didn't see anything that truly celebrated donuts in all their glory, hence the Underground Donut Tour was born. This tour is for anyone who truly enjoys donuts. At each location, you'll be able to try a curated sample or samples of that location's best donuts. Many locations offer vegan, gluten or nut free options, however, please make sure to let us know ahead of the tour, so we can make sure to highlight those specifically for you. Our tours include such favorites as Do-Rite Donuts, Firecakes, Stans, and Doughnut Vault.

What To Expect

The Loop

The Underground Donut Tour takes place over two hours. We'll visit four of the best donut stores in the city. All of them are located in the Chicago Loop area and we'll try a few donuts from each location. Donuts are included in the cost of the tour. You'll also have the option to purchase additional donuts if you wish.

Jackson and Addison were friendly, funny, delightful tour guides who made a real effort to make everyone feel included! We are actually Chicago natives, but had never tried any of the 4 gourmet donut shops on the tour. We also learned some fun architectural facts we hadn’t known before! The tour includes samples of 7 flavors total (total sample size is equivalent to 2-3 whole donuts), and both coffee and bottled water are included in the price. No “weird” flavors, everything was a variation on chocolate, vanilla, or cinnamon. (If you want a more adventurous donut, I’m sure you can buy yourself one at any of the shops). The samples are designed to showcase the bakers’ talents and you won’t be let down! My favorite was the Tahitian Vanilla w/white chocolate baubles, from Firecakes. My 10-year-old was having some trouble keeping up at one point, because it was such a hot day. Addison actually stayed with us for a few minutes until he was ready to continue walking, which was really kind and thoughtful of her. We would recommend this tour in a heartbeat to anyone, Chicagoan or not.
