My husband and I just returned from 5 fun-filled days at Universal Orlando. I've been on a ketogenic diet (low carb/high fat) for seizure control for more than 5 years. I was concerned when I looked at their online menus bc everything is high carb. I emailed Universal prior to going and asked about keto options and never got a reply so I packed my KetoVie just in case there was nothing I could eat. Turns out I didn't have to be concerned. Starbucks prepared my 2/3 coffee, 1/3 heavy whipping cream every morning. At the on-site restaurants (Leaky Cauldron, 3 Broomsticks) I learned that when you order the cashiers/waitstaff at Universal can not stray from the printed menu items but will gladly call for a head cook (who knows whats in the food) to come out and discuss your needs with you and have the food prepared just for you. I have been on keto so long that I follow rules and don't need explicit carb counts so if you are counting carbs it might be a problem. For example, at the 3 Broomsticks I ordered the American breakfast and they substituted bacon, sausage, and sauteed mushrooms for the potatoes and bread. They did the same for me at Citywalk's BigFire restaurant where I had delicious grilled brussel sprouts, grilled mixed veggies, and trout. My order included only the veggies I can eat - no picking out potatoes, carrots etc... BigFire had lots on their menu I could eat and the food was delightfully fresh and simple.
