Positives - Overall the tour itself was exceptional as we were in the capable hands of JR who was knowledgeable and such a whizz with all our iPhones - he almost throws in a mini photography course as you marvel at the sights! All he wants is for you to love and respect the Canyon as much as he does and you cannot fail to be in awe of such a place, it really has to be seen to be understood. We went on the 11.15am tour and the light was great but apparently now the winter is coming itā€™s more hit and miss. Negatives - we come from the U.K. and the downside for us was the dreadful instructions via Trip/Viator for getting to the pick up point. We ended up calling a number on the confirmation email (hard to get through to anyone but just press *) and the lady we spoke to said thereā€™s not a specific address itā€™s off a dirt track!! As we were in the desert this was less than helpful but then she gave the name of the branch of Navajo doing the tour and I then got the address from Google. There are five Navajo families running this tour and turn up at the wrong one (as we did initially) and they are less than helpful because youā€™re not on their tour. Also if you miss your tour time you lose your money. Finding the address was stressful but we had fortunately allowed enough time. Sorry Trip/Viator but my advice to others would be try and book direct with one of the five local Navajo tours as the prices are much cheaper and you know exactly where to go. The Navajo Nation also require everyone to wear a mask the whole time you are there, something we didnā€™t know, however the lady at the check in booth provided us with them. You are allowed to take them off in the canyon when youā€™re taking photographs.
