We had such an AWESOME time rafting with Smoky Mtn River Rat. We did the tubing with them in Townsend and met some super friendly and helpful employees including our favorite, Helena aka “Giggles.” We didn’t know it yet at the time but she ended being our rafting guide the next day and we feel we definitely won the “guide lottery!” Our rafting trip was both exciting and incredibly memorable and Helena made it fun with a few jokes as well as making us feel at ease with our first rafting experience. The class III and class IV’s were a blast and we even enjoyed the class II’s. We had chance to jump out and swim a bit to cool off which gave us a small break from paddling. We learned this was Helena’s rookie year though you would never know it. She is a gem and Smoky Mtn River Rat is lucky to have her! We wish her the best and hope to return again next year!

Instead of a water park, we chose to do a rafting trip. I wanted my family, who had never rafted before, to experience something different while visiting the Smokey Mountains. We had a great time! We were well instructed and provided new equipment. Additionally, our guide Spencer was entertaining and knowledgeable. The upper pigeon adventure was enough thrill for my family (mostly teens). It was memories made and money well spent. I only wish the trip had been a little longer (about an hour on the water). I should also mention their facilities. It looked brand new and the showers were hot & clean. We were able to shower and change and we’re ready for an evening out in Pigeon Forge. We would do it again next time we visit and probably try the Extreme trip- I think we’re ready to up the thrills
