I’ve been on train rides in different parts of the U.S., but in Arizona, this one, the Verde Canyon Railroad through parts of the Verde Valley takes the cake! It is unique in its own right. It’s like stepping back in time both with its old trains and the magnificence of the terrain and geography solely inhabited by the natural intact creatures and beautiful landscapes untouched by man – to a great extent at least. One can enjoy this incredible excursion via open air or enclosed cabs. One can also enjoy amenities not found in the past… drinks, eats and entertaining and knowledgeable conductors and attendants. You will walk away from this wonderful adventure knowing you’ve experienced the opportunity to see the wild and beautiful west and all its glory while experiencing it on a people mover from way back when. A must do!

We loved our time on the actual train, though I give this experience 4 stars due to the disorganization of the day. From the start the directions were confusing, re when to arrive, where to go, can you eat your lunch on the train, etc. The staff were friendly, but additional signage and information would be appreciated. Also it was a very hot day, and people were expected to remain in the sun, standing in line to board the train at one point. It would be considerate to put in some misters or more shady areas with tarps that actually block the sun.

Ann, thanks for riding with us and sharing your candid feedback. The depot patio and cafe kitchen are currently undergoing very big renovations which will enhance our guests' experience going forward, but currently do impact the depot experience, making it a bit less organized than usual. It's definitely not our norm! We apologize it affected your visit. We know the next time you visit you will be impressed with the improvements.
