What To Expect
1
Vernal Fall
Beginning at Happy Isles in the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, our trail climbs above the cataracts and rapids of the Merced River to a bridge over the river with excellent views of 317 ft. tall Vernal Fall.
2
Mist Trail
The next half mile is where the Mist Trail earns its name. Steep and slick, the trail ascends a virtual granite stairway through the thundering mist of Vernal Fall. In spring and early summer rain gear is recommended.

This was part of 4-day visit to Yosemite with Wildland. Day one included a terrific hike of Vernal and Nevada Falls. The Mist Trail was more like Torrential Downpour Trail with the amount of snowmelt coming off the falls. So much fun! We were soaked and giddy once we got to the top of Vernal. Took some time to dry out in the warm sun on top as we took in the power of the river. I'd recommend going in the spring to get the most out of the falls!

Despite on and off closures of Yosemite due to snow melt and flooding in the valley from the Merced River, and weather conditions ranging from freezing to cool and wet, everything went fine on our 4 day hikes in Yosemite. Thanks to the careful planning and resourceful guide Matt T. who made us feel we were in good hands as he guided us up to see awesome waterfalls, outstanding views, provided hot soup just when needed, and shared his experiences in the park and other places. This was my 2nd trip with Wildland Trekking and I highly recommend them.
