On this independent bike tour from Old Town Alexandria, enjoy views of the Potomac River as you cycle along the scenic Mount Vernon Trail to historic Mount Vernon Estate, George Washington’s famous 18th-century home. Explore the stately mansion, gorgeous gardens and fascinating educational exhibits at your leisure, and hop back on your bike for your return trip or upgrade to relax on a narrated Potomac River cruise back to Alexandria. (If you choose to return by boat, you must select this option at the time of booking) This is a fun, active and scenic way to experience Mount Vernon.

We recommend guests to come between 8am-9:30am to our store location. The boats leave from Mount Vernon at 1:30PM and returns to Washington DC!

To ride in a trailer carriage, the child needs to be able to hold up his or her head and wear a helmet

Potomac River

Ride along and enjoy views of the Potomac River. Route is relatively flat with a few rolling hills. Ride is approximately 10 miles to Mount Vernon (about a 1 hour ride). You may go direct or take your time and stop and see various sites, such as Jones Point Light House.

The E-bikes were awesome, my first time on one. The weather was great. The trail was excellent with two way traffic. Thank you

Our cruise on the way back was cancelled, so they upgraded is to the electric bike! The bikes were great made the ride on the way there in the rain much easier and the ride back super fun. The trail is great and marked well. We had a great time stopped on the way back and took in the views along the water.

One of the most beautiful trail rides I’ve ridden! Close to 9 miles, it took several hours, stops with packed snacks/water to make it with time to spare to do the tour of Mt Vernon before Fall closing at 4. (Grandsons age 8, 9.) Not time or daylight to ride back. Was a highlight of the trip & great for energy release for boys vs museums. Only caveat - the tour of the Mt Vernon house per tour guide was questioned w our ticket.
