Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Boston on this 2-hr Guided Walking Tour of the Downtown Freedom Trail between Faneuil Hall and Boston Common and then travel to Copley Square in Back Bay via Beacon Hill. The Downtown Boston portion of the popular Freedom Trail features many of the locations of historical significance to the United States including the Old State House, Old Granary Burial Ground, and the site of the Boston Massacre. We will then see where the Boston aristocracy lives on Beacon Hill on our way to the Boston Public Garden and see the Victorian brownstones in historic Back Bay. See the famous Cheers restaurant, Newbury Street and Commonwealth Avenue on our way to the Boston Marathon Finish Line. The guide- Alan- was extraordinary!! A real gem. If you should get so lucky to have this one, it’s a fantastic tour. I could have listened to him all day.

I wanted a tour of text book Boston/American history. This was not it. The tour guide was very animated and knowledgeable, but we barely were on the freedom trail the whole tour.

I am not sure I understand. You chose a tour that includes the Downtown Freedom Trail plus Beacon and Back Bay. The Downtown Freedom Trail is the "textbook" American History you said you want and is about 60% of the tour. The rest is quintessential Boston - Beacon Hill, where the Boston aristocracy lives, and beautiful 19th century architecture Back Bay. That is what you signed up for, right?

Our tour guide went off parts of the traditional walking tour so we could gain even more history of Boston. He was extremely knowledgeable and had many interesting details of the places and landmarks we visited.
