What To Expect

Johnson Square

We will learn about the beginning of Georgia and tour the original squares. Discuss the Colonial way of life churches, monuments and markers in this area as we journey into a timeline walk of the Historic District. Then our tour proceeds down Bull Street. The tour is one miles of walking and includes stops at Civil War homes, Cemetery, Theaters and famous movie locations.

We are so glad we were able to purchase a Groupon for this tour. It was a fabulous way to learn about the history of Savannah and its many squares. Our tour guide was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable and was always willing to answer any questions we may have. We never felt rushed and as we walked from spot to spot she made sure to get around to talking to everyone. I would definitely recommend!

This 90min walking tour rates well but requires pre booking and was full the Sunday we wanted to join the group although an morning phone call confirmed they would 'squeeze' us in :) Michelle, our guide, was extremely knowledgable about historic Savannah and the events that contributed to a followed the creation of this beautiful city and subsequent state. As Australian visitors a lot of this was new and fascinating information but for the US participants it clearly added to their broad knowledge of American wars/battles and history. The tour only travels a mile in walking distance but centuries in history and being led by a competent and experienced tour leader allows you to absorb and enjoy the big picture as well as the many small and fascinating details that evidence such a rich past. We really enjoyed the tour which offered great value compared to other advertised and similar experiences.

I would highly recommend this tour! Michelle was very knowledgeable. She was very engaging and was full of interesting stories about the history of Savannah. She made the tour go quick. Michelle was extremely helpful and willing to give us advise about other places to see, restaurants to go to, etc.
