I was on a ride with about eight other riders. Most were beginners that grass grabbers took advantage of. I thought I was going to be able to go on a ride with more experienced riders and do some cantering on the beach, but ended up on a nose-to-tail walk. At the final hill back up to the barn the "runners" were split from the walkers and we were allowed to lope (which turned out to be a race) up the hill. Great adrenaline rush but I never let my horses go back to the barn that way. I would have preferred a lope on trail and have a well worked horse calmly walk or trot back to the barn. Luckily all stayed on and got back okay. Anyone under 14 years old must wear a helmet. But any rider who identifies him/herself as a "beginner" should be required to wear one. So it was not the ride I expected but enjoyable nonetheless. That being said....what's more important to me is how well the horses are cared for. These horses are well cared for and they go out on the trail once a day. None of them seemed sour about their work because of being overworked. I respect and admire that about a trail outfit and for that reason I would recommend this company for a pleasant ride with their very attentive guides.
