Overview

Maui Mountain Activities offers horseback rides that take you up into the West Maui Mountains to view waterfalls (seasonal) from a distance, then down to the coastline to ride alongside the Pacific Ocean. Experience the tranquility of Maui's native rainforests and the beauty of its waters. There is a run spot where you can run your horse, if you want (weather permitting), and your guides will take photos of you with your camera along the way. Tour through the petting zoo and experience up close the many animals, which may include mini horses, geese, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, and sheep. This is a 2 hour tour. Soft drinks are provided and complimentary.

ACCURATE body weights are mandatory. If you exceed the body weight given to us by 15 pounds, we will try to see if there is a horse that can accommodate you. If we do not have a horse to accommodate you, you will be unable to ride and will not be refunded.
All Maui County rules and regulations are followed. No masks required.

The guides were very effective in helping us newbies do well on the horses, the horses themselves were extremely well behaved and the trail was lovely, like really gorgeous. Challenges came from the size of our group vs number of guides we had. We experienced significant “bunching up” several times during the trail as a group of 12 riders and 2 guides, which got a couple of the horses fussy. There were a couple riders that could’ve used some more guidance to prevent this, but there might have been too many of us to allow for that. This also meant that the parts of the trail we got to run the horses on was extremely limited, ultimately less than 30 seconds total, really. And this wasn’t explained or noted until that actual part of the trail, so it was a bummer of a surprise. Limiting the groups to 8 riders, and/or putting in a question about rider experience level during registration would likely help smooth this out. Only other concern was that we had about 5 little kids on the trail and one of the guides was pretty free-flowing on adult language. Nothing bad-natured but I can’t imagine the parents were a fan of that. None of us in the group were expert level riders but I imagine an expert rider would’ve gone crazy with our pace and group needs.

Outstanding experience! Great riding guides that went out of their way to make it special for each person. This was a birthday gift for my daughter and she was absolutely thrilled.

The entire experience was very very nice. From the friendly atmosphere and the great staff to the beautiful scenery during the ride. The guides were very interactive with the riders and made the experience enjoyable.
