All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking; minimum weight requirement is 50 lbs (23 kg)

Minimum age is 8 years old
It is recommended to bring: Sturdy footwear (no flip flops/crocs-sandals like Chaco's are acceptable), quick dry clothing, spring or fall rain suit, swimsuit or fast drying shorts, sun screen, lip balm, hat and a camera if wanted (preferably waterproof)
Camping gear can be rented from the tour operator at an additional cost for overnight trips
This river trip needs a minimum of 4 individuals to run. If your trip does not meet the minimum, you will be offered other tour options or get a full refund (Another option is to pay for remaining fares)

What To Expect

NAVTEC Expeditions - Day Tours

Get started in the morning after making your way to the office in central Moab. Meet your guide for a safety orientation, then get outfitted with a lifejacket and other necessary gear. A van transfers you to the put-in site on the river where your guide gives a safety briefing and paddle lesson. Then step into your boat, push off from the bank and start down the Westwater Canyon section of the Colorado River.

Colorado River

Your full-day rafting trip through Westwater Canyon provides both challenging white water and stunning scenery. Raft through 12 Class III and IV rapids including Funnel Falls, Skull and Sock It To Me. Your expert guide rows your oarboat through the rapids while you hang on and enjoy the thrills and splashes. On most trips, paddleboats are also available and participants help power the raft while following directions from the guide. Between bouncy white-water sections, take in the stunning scenery of the canyon.

Westwater Canyon

The Westwater Canyon formed when the Colorado River cut across an ancient mountain range, the water channeling through hard rock to create the narrow canyon. Learn about the geology of the area from your guide, as well as its history and wildlife. You may see petroglyphs as well as remnants of the wild west such as old mining cabins and even an outlaw’s grave. Look for bald eagles roosting in old-growth cottonwood trees, river otters playing in the eddies and beavers slapping their tails.

Moab

At noon your guide steers you to shore for a delicious buffet lunch on a riverside beach. Have time to rest in the shade, snap pictures and soak up the canyon’s beauty. Once you're refreshed, hit the river again for more fun. At the end of an exciting day of rafting, your guide returns you to Moab.

Good times, good people. Chantz was super knowledgeable and erudite, a riverine Renaissance man. The other guides were learning their trade and had a couple hiccups, but no fatalities. I’ll ask for Chantz by name when I want to go to Cataract Canyon.

So much fun! Team was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Chantze was very informative about the area, from history of Moab and surrounding areas to best restaurants and shops in town. Westwater is the perfect site for newbie rafters. Out if the many choices for rafting in the area, Navtec is by far superior.

Such an amazing experience! The team of guides we had were authentic and genuine (shout out to Katie, Greg, Lake, and Ethan); you can tell they truly enjoyed their job and their life. It was truly full service from pick up, drive to and from, rafting and LUNCH! I thought lunch would just be "here are some snacks," but it really was an actual lunch. The rapids were exciting and provided an adrenaline rush. The guides gave us safety tips and were clearly competent and confident if something were to happen. I was curious to see where the overall 'half' start came from and after reading other reviews, I could see why ppl might be bummed about their experience. That being said, I would recommend/suggest that you 'claim' a paddle boat if that is what you want. An option might be for Navtec to offer an optional upgrade to guarantee a spot in the paddle boats. Other reviewers mentioned no A/C (*eye roll), long drive (*eye roll*), and small rapids. Navtec can't control the rhythm of the rapids or the water levels, so I don't think they should be faulted for that. Overall, I would highly recommend, absolutely worth the price point, and I'm ready to do it again.
