NAVTEC Expeditions - Day Tours
Get started in the morning after making your way to the office in central Moab. Meet your guide for a safety orientation, then get outfitted with a lifejacket and other necessary gear. A van transfers you to the put-in site on the river where your guide gives a safety briefing and paddle lesson. Then step into your boat, push off from the bank and start down the Westwater Canyon section of the Colorado River.

Colorado River
Your full-day rafting trip through Westwater Canyon provides both challenging white water and stunning scenery. Raft through 12 Class III and IV rapids including Funnel Falls, Skull and Sock It To Me. Your expert guide rows your oarboat through the rapids while you hang on and enjoy the thrills and splashes. On most trips, paddleboats are also available and participants help power the raft while following directions from the guide. Between bouncy white-water sections, take in the stunning scenery of the canyon.

Westwater Canyon
The Westwater Canyon formed when the Colorado River cut across an ancient mountain range, the water channeling through hard rock to create the narrow canyon. Learn about the geology of the area from your guide, as well as its history and wildlife. You may see petroglyphs as well as remnants of the wild west such as old mining cabins and even an outlawā€™s grave. Look for bald eagles roosting in old-growth cottonwood trees, river otters playing in the eddies and beavers slapping their tails.

Had a great time! All my three kids (21,19 and 16) loved to too. Guides were a lot of fun. You start in a banded group and motor to the rapids. After lunch the boats split up. Make sure you get on one of the paddle boats for the wildest experience! Will was our guide and fantastic. For the best experience try to steal Pondā€™s giraffe. šŸ¤£

Was very disappointed my group was stuck on the pack raft and was not able to paddle on a raft that was not crowded with motors and metal boxes. The rapids were maybe an hour plus a few minutes and hardly worth the $200 a person. Long day of travel and outboard motor noise. Hardly the experience I was expecting.

Loved the river, good rapids even in the drought. However, the staff needs training in interpersonal skills. First they hadn't apportioned the people to the vehicles and no one seemed to know what to do. Then we got to the river and they had forgotten the gas for the motor so the whole trip they had to row the oared boats and it took an extra hour. But really my complaint is that when we raft in the east, the guides create a sense of community among the rafters. Perhaps because we chose the oared boat rather than the paddle, but there was no conversation. Even at lunch, people stood around in the group they had come with and didn't talk to each other. It felt weird, especially since we spent so much time in the flat water sections where there is nothing to do but chat. You should know that it is an hour and half ride in a vehicle to and from the put in/take out. You will go back in the same vehicle you come in so you can bring dry clothes and change in the outhouse at the take out. I wish the woman at the desk had told me these things when I asked her where we should park our car. It is cold going back in an air conditioned car and wet clothes.
