We decided to take the two hour cruise around the cape and to hopefully see some dolphins. There was nothing that disappointed. The guide on the boat was very informative and very eager to answer any questions. It was a beautiful day. We saw many dolphins, ospreys and pelicans. Seeing he sights from a different perspective was also interesting, the beautiful houses, the lighthouse and WWII lookout tower. We even got to see the Cape May-Lewes Ferry pull into port. Would recommend for young and old alike!

We had a great time and the trip length was perfect for adults and kids. We took the 2 hour sunset cruise and were out to sea for a little longer than that. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 3, 7, 8, and 12. The trip kept the kids engaged the whole time which is tough to do. We saw plenty of dolphins and got the very interesting Cape May history of attractions and landmarks but the real bonus was the whale, actually two whales. The captain was aware of a whale a couple of miles off shore and started the trip by going out to the whales first. He gave us a great explanation and lesson on humpback whales, got us into several dolphin pods and got us back to the bay side in time for the sunset. All in all a great trip for a reasonable price and added great variety to our week at the shore.

If you have kids, taking a cruise on the Whale Watcher out of Cape May is a fun way to spend a few hours, and still have time for the beach. It takes you through Cape May harbor and out past the Coast Guard Training Center into the ocean, and then cruises along Cape May's beach. I doubt that you'll see any whales, but there's a good chance you'll see dolphins, in fact it's guaranteed, or you get a pass for another cruise.. And it is a scenic little cruise. My granddaughter really enjoyed it, and we did see dolphins. The boat leaves from Schellenger Island at 10 AM for a two hour cruise and it costs $30 for adults and $20 for kids 7 to 12. Under 7, it's free. Pick up one of the promotional brochures at the dock, there's a coupon in it for $3 off of the adult fare.
