Both my husband and I really enjoyed this voyage. We took the 1pm, 3-hour tour on a Sunday and of the total capacity, which we were told was 400 people, our particular voyage only had about 100 people. 400 would be quite crowded so I felt very lucky! There is a snack bar and drink bar (wine and beer, I think) on board. You could bring on whatever you wanted so we stopped for Wawa hoagies on the way. There are tables inside to eat, air conditioned. There is an upper outdoor deck and the main deck. We sat on the side of the boat on the main deck and didn't miss any of the action. There are four bathrooms on board. The person commentating about whales and dolphins and the area was very informative and easily heard and understood. Who knew there used to be a nude beach in Cape May until Gov. Christine Todd Whitman put the kabosh on it?? Not me!! I do now. If you even sorta kinda tend to get sea sick, this is a good one to be prepared for. We were out on a really calm day and there were two or three people who couldn't hold their lunch! On a rough day, I probably would have joined them. We did see whales, big ones!! And when you're just bobbing there and waiting for them to surface, the sway can be a little nauseating. You've been forewarned. Take your dramamine!! LOL!

I took the Cape May Whale Watcher at the beginning of July (not one of their 4th of July events, just a regular cruise) and I want so so so badly to give them a 5, but they get a 3 for the unfortunate disorganization of the unlimited pizza/hot dogs. I bought two tickets, and opted for the unlimited pizza and hot dogs option as that worked fine for us. There was another option for a prime rib dinner but we weren't going for the food, so the pizza/hot dogs were fine. The boat was decent sized and well maintained. There was a liquor bar on the first level and the drinks weren't ridiculously priced. The boat trip itself was great - we saw a ton of dolphins and the narrator was good too. Learned a lot and saw a lot. Now to address the rating: when they opened up the pizza/hot dog counter, you would have thought you were dangling fresh meat in front of starving wolves the way the counter was attacked. There were people getting 8+ food items, and then the delay on top of that was that people were ordering fountain drinks, thus holding up the line. There were two lines but you couldn't tell which one was for what and it just created a crowd around the counter. It took people over an hour to get food. When you only have a two hour cruise, you don't want to stand on a line waiting for food for over an hour. I would suggest to the owners to try the following: open the soda fountain before the food so people can buy their beverages first, have two separate lines, one for food and one for beverages, don't allow people more than one initial item so that everyone can get food in a timely fashion (then after everyone has had either a slice or a dog, then you can allow seconds), or allow people to purchase a beverage pass for $5 that entitles them to unlimited soda and anyone else can purchase a soda at the bar.

I booked a "Whale Watching Fireworks Cruise" for 6 adults and 4 children for July 04, 2014. Hurricane Arthur came during 4th of July and the seas were choppy, let alone the fireworks being cancelled. Despite the dangerous conditions (no swimming was allowed), the Cape May Whale Watchers would not cancel the trip nor refund the tickets. I believe that this was extremely mean spirited and unfair, given the weather conditions. This company obviously doesn't care about tourists and is only interested in our money.
