Hoonah

During you tour you well see all kinds of Sea life from Humpback Whales, Sea Loins, Sea, Sea otter, sometimes Killer Whales and bears walking on the beach.

Wow!!! We have been whale watching a dozen times before, and none of them hold a candle to our time with Billy and Wooshkeetaan Tours. Billy is well connected in the local community, and had conversations with other boats to know right where to go to make the most of our time, and to see what we were the most interested in. And he hit the nail on the head! While he offered for us to spend some time with humpbacks, the pod of 10 orca was clearly more interesting, and we got to spend a lot of time with orca (huge male, females with calfs, etc.) who swam right up to, and under our boat. We saw them breach and spy hop more times than we can count. The ~3 hours we spent on this excursion will be among the more memorable, and awe inspiring vacation experiences of my life. Thank you Billy!!!

We had a fabulous experience with Captain Billy! We were on a cruise with family and wanted a more personal whale watching experience than the larger boats provide. We truly lucked out with Captain Billy who provided an amazing experience, especially for the person who we were celebrating with a dream trip to Alaska! Billy is born and raise in Hoonah so knows the waters like the back of his hand. He is incredibly knowledgable about the area and it's inhabitants and answered all our questions patiently. We HIGHLY recommend booking a whale watching excursion directly with Captain Billy!

After our fishing charter got cancelled we looked around Hoonah for another option of something to do on our cruise stop, when we found Captain Billy. This tour is MUCH different than the other whale watching trips as we were a full group with 6 guest on board, where when booked with the cruise ship it would be 100 people. We were able to get much closer to the whales than other boats while still not disturbing them. Saw a pod of 8 Orcas, pod of 6 humpbacks doing Bubble net feeding, and one humpback breaching many times for us to see! It was incredible and Billy is born and raise from Hoonah! HIGHLY recommend to book Billy if you are in Icy Strait Point or Hoonah.
