This is the first whale watching trip I've ever been on. I've been researching and planning for years. We went to a location were they heard a whale was spotted day before. We saw a small female from pretty far away. The crew knew her and was excited to see her as they hadn't seen her this season. It was very anti climatic for the rest of us as we could barely spot her. She barley came up out of the water and I had zoom in as far as I could to see her. This happened a couple of times but she was traveling pretty fast so they had no idea where she would surface. A fellow traveler said she had been on this tour about a dozen times and this was the worse one she'd been on so far, so maybe someone else will have better luck another time.

We saw a lot of whales including mommas with calves. Beautiful. Everyone working on the boat was happy enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Sun glasses a must.
