Whiskey Tasting Experience in Nashville

Overview
A quick stop from downtown Nashville to Marathon Village takes visitors back in time as they step inside Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. Digging into the past didn’t turn up skeletons and scandals for brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson; more like sour mash and stills. After discovering their triple great grandfather was one of the most successful whiskey distillers in pre-prohibition America, the brothers vowed to revive the since-forgotten family business.
If you’re into stories about sunken ships and lost gold, a woman running a distillery before women could vote and the rebirth of a business after 100 years, you’ll be sucked into the guided tasting experiences offered at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. Sample the spirit based on the recipe for Tennessee’s oldest whiskey, two modern-day, high-rye bourbons and finish your tasting with a caramel pecan liqueur. Commemorate your visit with a peek in the gift and bottle shop where spirits, apparel, and barware are available for purchase.

This was an option included with the all access pass. The distillery is on the hop on/off trolley stop 7. There was hardly anyone there, very quiet (not even a radio playing). Atmosphere didn't make you want to come in or stay. This is a straight whiskey and bourbon tasting (no soda available). Our group likes whiskey but not straight. Presumably most patrons are tourists so not worth stopping unless you like it straight.

We got an excellent tutorial on the whole distilling process as we sat sipping our excellent old fashioneds and our flight of their distilled beverages. He was super chill and was an apparent master of the craft.

We did the tasting/tour. Didn’t really walk around but sat at a beautiful bar and heard all of the history of this place. Daniel was fantastic!!! So many details and a lotta fun! Got to sample 5 different items- also learned the proper way to do it all. So much fun!!!
