I personally love tours so it was a great experience for me. You will be given two options for the tour. The upgraded version will be an additional of $40 to get on a cruise that brings you to the face of Portage glacier. If you choose not to, you will have a chance to go on Byron trail for a short hike. Shawn was our tour guide and he did a great job explaining along the way and also gave us a good amount of quiet time to enjoy the scenic views. I also got to see some wonderful wildlife at the conservation center. Overall, the tour was amazing. Highly recommend if you have no plans on what to do in Anchorage!

My daughter and I recently took this tour with Jonathan as our guide. The company check-in and boarding process was a bit unorganized, but once we boarded the van with our guide, Jonathan, we thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Jonathan was experienced and very knowledgeable about the area, and the wildlife. He had additional tips about restaurants and activities as well as some fun and interesting local history and stories. The rainforest, lake, and glacier were beautiful. The wildlife conservation center was also a treat. The animals were active that day. It was fascinating to see bears, moose, bison up close in their habitats. And our stop for Alaskan-flavored ice cream was a fun surprise. I will say it's very important to show up 5-10 minutes before your tour begins, be clear on the name of your tour, and make sure you are getting on the bus for that specific tour.

This was a great tour narrated by our guide Shawn. He did a wonderful job sharing Alaskan facts and information with us that I hadn’t yet heard on my train rides. We didn’t do a walk in the rainforest, but we did stop by Portage Lake after our visit at the wildlife conservation center. It was gorgeous. The center itself was also a great time as we saw many animals including an adolescent black bear which laid very close to the fence, smiled at us, and posed for pictures!
