Ye Olde Tavern Tours

Overview
Ye Olde Tavern Tours offers historic tavern tours in Boston because we believe beer makes history even better! On our guided walking tours, you'll see ten sites on the Freedom Trail and grab a beer at some of the nation's most historic taverns. When visiting Boston, there are certain historic sites and stories you shouldn't leave without seeing and hearing, and you'll do all of that on our tour, all while drinking beer!

Led by expertly-trained historians (our guides have a minimum of a Bachelor's in History and many of them are currently working towards or have a PhD in History), you'll learn about the drunken and revolutionary history of Boston in the eighteenth century.

We cap each tour at 12 people to provide an intimate and accessible experience. Our tours are the most fun and social way to experience Boston!

We are a small, local business and we greatly appreciate your support!

Brooke our tour guide provided factual fun fact about the history of Boston and its taverns. Having local beers was a great way to explore the flavor of Boston! Brooke was energetic, extremely knowledgeable and fun! Do this tour!

We took the 2.5 hour tour with a group of ten people. Our tour guide was Kristen, who is a third year Ph.D History student at Boston University. The tour took place in historic Boston areas, and included visits to three taverns along the way. It was one of the best tours we have ever been on, and we have been many places! Kristen was the perfect combination of knowledgeable, conversational, funny, interesting, and animated about her subject! She covered the history in Boston during the years leading up to the American Revolution, from 1765-1775. The taverns were places where beer was drunk, news was shared, and people organized and hatched plans for the growing rebellion against British rule. What a clever tour, and we enjoyed the craft beer and cider at the taverns! Fantastic! Don't miss this!

Three of us were in town for a guys weekend and we took this tour with Kristen. It was freezing cold and windy, but she kept us moving and gave a great overview of the 1765-1775 time period in Boston. We learned a lot and tried some great local brews. The taverns themselves also had interesting histories. Highly recommend this tour!
